New York:Shostakovich for the Children of Syria is a performance of Shostakovich's “Leningrad” Symphony, written under the twin shadows of Stalin's persecution and the Nazi siege of Leningrad. Artists from international orchestras, ensembles, and academies gather in support of the many children affected by the horrors of the Syrian conflict. This is a call for hope and support for the most vulnerable human beings. Proceeds from this performance will benefit Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières.
