Today, Westchester County Executive Hon. Rob Atorino kicked off its very first International Yoga Day at the beautiful Kensico Dam Plaza. OFBJP (New York) Yuva Convener Sivadasan Nair along with Harry Singh organized the event with the help from Westchester County Government. Realizing the impact of Yoga for the health of people, the County Executive wholeheartedly welcomed the idea of celebrating international Yoga day for health, humanity and peace. Sivadasan Nair on his introduction quoted "in 1893 Swami Vivekananda during his address in the Parrliament of Wolrd’s religion introduced Yoga to the western world. In 2014 Indian Prime Minister Honarable Narendra Modi appealed to the United Nations to observe June 21st as the Internationational Yoga day for humanity and peace. Along with 178 countries, we are also joining the United Nations in celebrating this event". County executive expressed his wish to see this event going at higher scale in the coming years. He recognized the organizers during the event. Yoga sessions included warm up, different asanas, Surya Namaskar, relaxation and meditation. It was a beautiful event and all the instructors were presented with certificate of appreciation from the office of the county executive.
