വിസ തട്ടിപ്പിന്റെ പേരില്‍ ഡപ്യൂട്ടി കോണ്‍സല്‍ ജനറല്‍ ഡോ. ദേവയാനി ഖൊബ്രഗാഡെയെ അറസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്‌ത രീതി തികച്ചും തെറ്റായി പോയതായി പ്രമുഖ സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകനും ജെ.എഫ്.എ യുടെ മുന്നണി പോരാളിയുമായ അലക്സ് വിളനിലം പറഞ്ഞു. പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നയതന്ത്രമേഖലയില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുമായി ഒരു ശക്തമായ ബന്ധം നിലനിര്‍ത്തുവാന്‍ അമേരിക്ക മെനക്കെടുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ ഇത് മോശമായിപ്പോയി. ഒരു കോണ്സുലേറ്റ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥയുടെ ഗതി ഇതാണെങ്കില്‍ വേണ്ടത്ര പരിരക്ഷ ഇല്ലാത്ത സാധാരണക്കാരുടെ അവസ്ഥ എന്തയിരിക്കുമെന്ന് ചിന്തിക്കുക.ഇതിനെതിരെ മുഴുവന്‍ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരും ശക്തമായ ഒരുമിച്ചു നിന്ന് പ്രക്ഷോഭം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കണമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. ഡോ. ദേവയാനിയെ പുത്രിയെ സ്‌കൂളില്‍ വിടുവാന്‍ പോയപ്പോള്‍ അറസ്റ്റ്‌ ചെയ്‌തത്‌ തെറ്റായി പോയെന്ന് തോമസ്സ് റ്റി ഉമ്മന്‍ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.ഇതു വെറുമൊരു സിവില്‍ കേസ്സ് മാത്രമാണ് . ശരിയായ അന്വേഷണം നടത്തിയതായി തോന്നുന്നില്ല. അരുടെയൊക്കെയൊ ഗൂഡാലോചന ഇതിന്റെ പിന്നില്‍ ഉള്ളതായിട്ട് തോന്നുന്നു.

അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്ത നടപടിയെ പ്രവാസി മലയാളി ഫെഡ്റേഷന്‍ ഗ്ലോബല്‍ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ ജോസ് കനാട്ട് അപലപിച്ചു. ഇത്തരമൊരു അറസ്റ്റ് ഒഴിവക്കമായിരുന്നു.

ഇന്ത്യന്‍ കോണ്‍ സുലേറ്റ് കഴുകി വെടിപ്പാക്കനുള്ള സമയം അതിക്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് ജ്.ചെയര്‍ മാന്‍ തോമസ്സ് കൂവള്ളൂര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.കൊണ്‍ സുലേറ്റുകളില്‍ സേവനം ചെയ്യുവാന്‍ യോഗ്യതയുള്ള നിരവധിയാളുകള്‍ അമേരിക്കയിലുള്ളപ്പോള്‍ ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ നിന്ന് ആള്‍ ക്കാരെ കോണ്ട് വരുന്നതില്‍ കാര്യമില്ല.

ഒരു സ്ത്രീയെന്ന പരിഗണന കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്നുവെന്ന് ഫൊക്കാനയുടെ ലീല മാരേറ്റ് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.ഇത്തരം വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റ് കൂടുതല്‍ ശ്രദ്ധ ചെലുത്തണം .

No matter what happens we should voice our protest from all across the country.We need our religious leaders come out of the castle and show some solidarity to the community.All community leaders come up front if their people faces any problem.Indian religious community heads must react now and condem the police brutality agains a minority women in front of the child even if Dr.Devayani has the diplomatic immunity.this is pure racism.Americans still treat Indians as third class citizens.Spanish have leadership tp protest,African Americans have many Reverend take matter to the public.Can American police arrest any Jewish diplomat or any of their citizens.The GOvernment has to come up with an appology Plan Protest .

The Embassy of India in Washington has conveyed its strong concern to the U.S. Government over the action taken against Indian Deputy Consul in New York Dr Devyani Khobragade. “We have been informed that Deputy Consul General of India in New York, Dr. Devyani Khobragade, was taken into custody by law enforcement authorities in New York in the morning of Dec 12 while she was dropping her daughter at school. Dr. Khobragade was later released that same evening,” M Sridharan,Counsellor (Press, Information and Culture) Embassy of India in Washington said in a statement.

Action was apparently taken against Dr Khobragade on the basis of allegations raised by the officer’s former India-based domestic assistant, Ms Sangeeta Richard, who has been absconding since June this year. In this context the Delhi High Court had issued an-interim injunction in Sept to restrain Ms Richards from instituting any actions or proceedings against Dr Khobragade outside India on the terms or conditions of her employment. The US Government had subsequently been requested to locate Ms Richard and facilitate the service of an arrest warrant, issued by the Metropolitan Magistrate of the South District Court in New Delhi under Sections 387, 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code. Prior to working as Deputy Consul General, Khobragade, who hails from Mumbai, had worked as Director for Consular, Passport and Visa and Deputy Director, Finance, in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and at the political divisions of Indian Missions in Pakistan, Italy and Germany. She studied Medicine before joining the Indian Foreign Service,
