It is almost certain that Ramesh Chennithala would become a minister in the state cabinet.

After a meeting with party President Sonia Gandhi, Chennithala, who did not divulge the details of the meeting to the press, said that he had apprised her about the political situation in Kerala. It is expected that an official announcement declaring Chennithala a minister would be made once Chief Minister Oommen Chandy reaches New Delhi.

There are also reports that efforts are being made to placate the IUML, which had demanded the Deputy Chief Minister post for one of its members. Ramesh is expected to get Revenue and Sports portfolios. Some other ministers could see their portfolios being changed.
