Muslims in Kerala will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday as Shawwal moon was not sighted on Sunday, announced religious leaders including Panakkad Hyderali Shihab Thangal.

Greeting people on the occasion, Panchayat and Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer said: "I send my wishes and greetings to all Keralites' on Eid-ul-Fitr."

Meanwhile, Eid will be celebrated across the Gulf region, except Oman, on Monday.

Oman will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Tuesday.

"The UAE will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow (Monday) as the Shawwal moon has been sighted in the country," UAE's official WAM news agency said.

Similar announcements were made by other governments in the Gulf region as well.

"It has been officially announced in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Doha (Qatar) and Amman (Jordan) that tomorrow (Monday) will be the first day of the three-day Eid El-Fitr," the Kuwait News Agency said.

Rulers of the Gulf countries exchanged greetings on the occasion.
