Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Panaji on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal by another ten days in the alleged sexual assault case.
Goa police had sought an extension of Tejpal's judicial custody by another 14 days.
The 12-day period of Tejpal's custody ended on Saturday and he was produced before the JMFC judge Kshama Joshi.
Tejpal was arrested on November 30, 2013 and is being presently kept in Sada Sub-Jail, Vasco.
On December 23, 2013 judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Sarika Phaldessai had extended the judicial custody of Tejpal by 12 days.
The initial FIR on November 22 was registered suo-moto against Tejpal and he was charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 354, 376 and 376 (2) (k) for sexual harassment and rape.
Later, the police added Section 341, Section 342, Section 376 (2) (f) and Section 376C of the IPC.
