A Special Sub-Inspector and a constable were today booked for allegedly assaulting a Doordarshan reporter following an altercation between them.

ADSP Velladurai said a case has been registered against SSI Murgaboothi and constable Senthil of the town police station here and they have been transferred to the Armed Reserve Police pending inquiry.

Initial departmental inquiry revealed that the altercation took place at a tea shop over placing some chairs.
