K Muraleedharan MLA on Monday said that the government was not right in promoting IG Tomin Thachankary.

He further said that it was strange from the side of the government to promote an officer as a punishment.

Murali added that it would set a wrongful precedence if an officer, who was suspended by the Director General of Police, was promoted after issuing only a verbal warning.
