The Left Democratic Front (LDF)-led Opposition in Kerala Monday disrupted the Assembly session demanding Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's resignation. The Assembly session resumed on the day after its adjournment a fortnight back amid vehement protests by opposition.
Soon after the Question Hour, the Opposition wanted an adjournment motion to discuss the recent developments in solar scam. Deputy opposition leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan moved the request for adjournment motion.
The Opposition wanted to discuss the statements made by Sreedharan Nair, a petitioner in solar cheating case, as CM's name was mentioned in the complaint filed by him. The Opposition raised placards and slogans to protest against the CM.
Home Minsiter Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said that government is ready for any investigation into solar scam in a reply to the adjournment motion. He also said the investigation is going on in the right direction.
Earlier, the Question Hour was not disrupted as per the agreement between the Opposition members and Speaker G Karthikeyan prior to the start of the session.
Security has been beefed up around the assembly premises. Only the vehicles of the Minsters and MLAs were let through the main entrance. Later, the Speaker clarified that security was upped as per intelligence reports.
