Defence Minister A K Antony Tuesday condemned the unprovoked attack on Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector, Jammu and Kashmir.
"We strongly condemn the unprovoked incident," Antony said in Lok Sabha on the killing of five Indian soldiers.
Antony said the attack was carried out by 20 heavily-armed terrorists in Pakistan Army uniform. "(The) Army is ready to take all necessary steps to uphold the sanctity of LoC," he added.
Earlier, Parliament saw the angry reactions by the Opposition with both the BJP and Samajwadi Party questioning as to why the government was feeling "completely helpless" in the face of repeated aggression by Pakistan.
Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha witnessed uproar over the issue as also protests against the formation of Telangana and demands for creation of Bodoland, leading to repeated adjournments.
