Case closed, Sridevi's body taken for embalming
The Dubai Prosecution Service has closed investigation into actor Sridevi's death, marking the closure of the case.
Sridevi's body has been handed over to her family, ending the two-day wait for bringing the body home for cremation.
Quoting the Dubai Public Prosecution, the emirate's media office said, "All regular procedures followed in such cases [as Sridevi's death] have been completed. "As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness," the media office added. "The case has now been closed."
The body was taken from morgue to the embalming centre by the family. The embalming process is expected to take anywhere between one to two hours and the body is expected to be flown to India tonight.
Sridevi's family gets clearance letter
The Dubai police hands over clearance letters to the Indian consulate and family members for the release of Sridevi's mortal remains, so that they can proceed for embalming, reports say. The body will be released to the family shortly.
The Gulf News citing sources also said that a no objection certificate to release the mortal remains of the actress was handed over to the representatives of the Indian Consulate and her family at around 1:15 pm IST.
Sridevi's body will now be sent for embalming which should take between 4-5 hours more. The body is likely to be flown back to Mumbai tonight and the funeral is likely to be held tomorrow.
Arjun Kapoor heads to Dubai

Police recorded the statement of Sridevi's husband and noted film producer Boney kapoor, the Gulf News reported on late Monday night.
Kapoor reportedly discovered Sridevi unconscious in the bathtub filled with water in the hotel. Dubai police are also said to be examining Sridevi's phone call records.
Sridevi's medical records from India have also been sought. The prosecutor's office wants to know what medical treatment she had taken before and what surgeries she underwent and if that had any bearing on her sudden death.
