The mud-slinging between Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan has taken a new turn in the wake of the sensational Call Data Records (CDRs) scandal unearthed by the Thane police.
Kangana's name cropped up during the interrogation of celebrity advocate Rizwan Siddiqui, who was arrested by the Crime Branch of Thane Police for allegedly procuring the CDR of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's wife at his behest.
The name of Ayesha Shroff, actor Jackie Shroff's former wife and Tiger Shroff's mother, cropped up as she had shared the CDR of her business partner and actor Sahil Khan with the lawyer.
Siddiqui was released from police custody following an order from the Bombay High Court.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe, Kangana had shared Hrithik's number with the lawyer, the purpose of which is being investigated.
"The mobile and laptops of Rizwan Siddiqui were seized. These were analysed... we came to know that Kangana Ranaut shared one of Hrithik Roshan's numbers with Siddiqui way back in 2016. We do not know the purpose... it is under investigation. We have given a letter to the nodal officer of the service provider," Trimukhe said.
So far, the Thane Crime Branch has arrested 12 people, including Siddiqui, India's first lady private detective Rajani Pandit, a police constable from Yavatmal, an IT expert from Pune and several private detectives.
More than 250 CDRs, which include those of businessmen and celebrities, have been seized from their possession during the investigations that was been going on for the last two months.
Kangana's family has reacted sharply to the development.
"When we respond to a notice, we give all details to lawyer. To assume that these details were used to violate law & make statements based on that assumption, & defame an artist is super lame @abtrimukhe . Full investigation should be carried out before making assumptions," Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel tweeted.
