The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has written to all its state association asking them to submit the names of their uncapped players to be included in the forthcoming Indian Premier League auction, which will take place on February 12-13.

These uncapped players will get to fix their own base price, at which bidding will start for them at the auction, from three options. The minimum base price for an uncapped player has been fixed at Rs 10 lakh, while the other two options are Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. The Indian board has requested its state associations to submit the names of uncapped players by January 24. The base price for a capped player will start from Rs 30 lakh.

Once the state associations submit the list of their respective uncapped players, the BCCI will forward the same to the eight teams owners. If even one team shows interest in buying an uncapped player in the auction, he will go under the hammer.

No agents, managers

The BCCI, however, will not entertain player agents or managers and the name of an uncapped player can be forwarded only by a state association. "Please note that, at this stage of the process, BCCI will only deal directly with the State Associations and at no time will have any communication with player agents or managers. Any failure by a player to abide by this will (unless BCCI in its sole discretion decides otherwise) result in the player's name being withdrawn with immediate affect from the Auction Register and or Auction list," a letter from BCCI reads.

However, talent scouts of the IPL teams will find it hard to hold onto to the talent from the catchment area as all players will go under the hammer.
