In view of reports on obtaining graduation degrees in other states by nefarious means the Kerala State Nursing Council has decided to stop registration of nurses with post basic B Sc Nursing and M Sc Nursing degree received from colleges outside Kerala.
As per the new decision, those who study outside the state will have to register in the respective nursing council and hence they will not be able to work in Kerala.
The council further explained that the decision was taken after realizing that colleges outside the state are providing graduation through dubious means.
Such students reportedly get qualified even after bunking classes and skippings exams. As nursing council is an independent body, the decision was taken without the consent of the government.
The decision has come into effect from early 2013 and it will be a setback to hundreds of nurses who wish to work in the state.
