The submission of a chargesheet in the Ancheri Baby murder case could be delayed even though the High Court had suggested  a time frame for submitting the chargesheet.

The case assumes significance because CPM leader MM Mani is allegedly involved in it. The investigating team is expected to ask for more time from the High Court in this regard. It had earlier agreed to submit the chargesheet before the 20th of this month and had made efforts in this direction by speeding up its probe.

It is believed that the team had collected evidences against some CPM workers. However the final list of the accused and chargesheet have not been prepared yet because top officials of the team were busy dealing with the recent Secretariat blockade and rain-induced damages in Idukki.

Since the case is about three decades old, the investigative agency might take time to complete the formalities and submit the chargesheet.
