The CBI is to take over the murder case of Muslim League activist Abdul Shukoor (21) from Ariyil, Pattuvam.
Abdul Shukoor, a youth wing activist of the Muslim league was murdered 20 Feb 2012. Many renowned CPM leaders are alleged to have a hand in the murder.
Both Shukoor's family and the Muslim league had approached the government for a CBI inquiry, but it did not work in their favour. This further lead them to approach the HC. In response to this petition, the HC asked the government for an explanation, which lead to the case being handed over to the CBI.
Abdul Shukoor's murder was the aftermath of the mayhem created after the car in which CPM District Secretary P Jayaraj and T. V. Rajesh MLA were travelling was attacked. He was the MSF Treasurer from Thaliparambu constituency when he was killed. Even though the CPM had widely propagated that Shukoor was present when the car was attacked, this claim got disproved later. All the accused in the case who have been arrested are CPM members.
The incident involved many DYFI leaders, says the police. The case charged against the CPM leaders relate to conspiracy and murder. As an aftermath of the car attack, within a short span of time, Shukoor was made captive in Kizhara. It was after he was identified by certain CPM local leaders, that he was dragged to the fields close by and murdered brutally. Pictures of Shukoor and some of his companions were taken on a mobile phone and passed across to some numbers. These are the findings of the police till date.
